Controversial new technique - TRT

Johnny Provenzale has been causing quite a stir across the online tree climbing community with his controversial new climbing style, Twin Rope Technique (TRT) and huge swings.  Using Twin Ropes through a single RopeRunner and twin foot ascenders he is making super fast ascents and big, seeminly controlled swings.  If you've seen Johnny already, like in this crane swing vid, you know he's a pretty extreme dude.  And his antics are coming under close scrutiny with plenty of people expressing safety concerns about his climbing methods.  Some times people are just batshit crazy...but also sometimes people are just at a whole other level we can't grasp yet...and that doesn't mean it's wrong just because we can't see it yet.  I'm sure the first guy to backflip a motox bike was considered insane...nowadays if you can't nail a triple backflip you're lame! Some people push the boundaries of human potential in incredible ways...  The important thing here is the context. Work vs. Play.  New techniques and using gear outside of it's designed use should be kept for play until proven...  Take a look at Johnnys explainer vid of TRT and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Hey Jared. The neck tether is used to tend slack in your primary SRT ascender, eg roperunner/ropewrench/croll etc. http://treegear.com.au/products/bungee-neck-elastic

This idea has been around for along time and Bernd Strasser was teaching this type of tree treverce about 10 years ago, and made it look a lot safer too?

Mmm not bad, maybe worth looking into, considering that the americans are the most innovative people in the world.
