The "Mayne Direct" is a specialized, retrievable redirect sling developed by local tree climber and Treegear customer Tremayne Finney Green to improve efficiency and safety in arboriculture. Tremayne asked us at The Gravity Lab to develop his hand spliced prototype into a production piece that can be made available to other climbers.  We worked together to his specs of cordage quality, lengths, and hardware preferences to bring The Mayne Direct to market.

*Pink available now, Blue eta Mid April.

It serves as a versatile, re-direct system, often using a friction hitch and a pulley to create a movable anchor point for a climber, allowing them to shift weight while staying securely in the main system.Key aspects of the technique include:
  • Versatility: Used to redirect the climbing line, allowing the climber to work efficiently and maneuver around branches.
  • Functionality: It involves pulling a bight through a ring and adding a pulley, which can be retrieved easily later.
  • Safety: It acts as a secure anchor point, helping to reduce risks associated with repositioning or returning to the center of the tree.
  • Best Practice: Critical considerations include the orientation of the redirect to prevent it from spinning around the limb, and ensuring the friction hitch is away from the anchor's direction.

The Mayne Direct includes a 10mm Armor Prus sewn sling with length and eye sizes at the exact spec developed by Tremayne. It features 2 DMM Anchor rings. It also includes the correct length Armor Prus Poly 8mm prusik to tie a short Cornell Hitch.

Add your own carabiner to the prusik. Tremayne recommends the DMM PerfectO.
